Liverpool come back to England after the back of a 4-1 win in Belgium; their first away win in the Champions League for around two years. Tottenham Hotspur, meanwhile, ended their recent performative rot with a 5-0 shellacking of a Red Star Belgrade side that looked utterly lost during the match. With Liverpool set to play one of their most historically exciting fixtures after a tough away game, can they get back to winning ways in the league and go back to leading the title charge?

Liverpool looked really exciting but somewhat lopsided when they played Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita in midfield in Belgium. However, the Reds have lacked fluency in midfield from time for much of 2019 – this new midfield trio, with Fabinho screening the defence, could change that pretty soon.

The Reds come into this in otherwise imperious form, even if performances are lacking somewhat. Expect the usual front three, with one of Jordan Henderson or Gini Wijnaldum set to come into the midfield ahead of Oxlade-Chamberlain or Keita.

Having finally found their feet once again, Spurs have started to see more players coming back from injury. Both Juan Foyth and Giovani Lo Celso are both fit once again, and both could take part in this game at Anfield. However, the loss of Hugo Lloris means that Spurs will need their number two to be in fine form for this one.

Expect Spurs to go with Tanguy Ndombele and Moussa Sissoko in midfield alongside Harry Winks. They’ll want to go for power and precision to try and kill off the Liverpool press.

Liverpool win. The first chance for Spurs to get revenge for the 2019 UEFA Champions League final should end in defeat. They are improving, but a poor record at Anfield and the imperious form held by Liverpool at home means that we cannot see beyond a Liverpool win.
