Liverpool vs Leicester
In what is undoubtedly the big game of the weekend, Brendan Rodgers rocks up to Anfield with a Leicester City side capable of doing something impressive. While winning the league is unlikely, they could certainly push for a European spot – if not the UEFA Champions League.
Having watched Liverpool concede 3 at home to RB Salzburg, we’d suggest that Rodgers is licking his lips. Could he find a way to stop the winning run that the Reds have been on? Could he also put the spanner in the works regarding the title that the Anfield crowd covet so much?
Liverpool News
With Joel Matip and Alisson set to miss out again, Liverpool will be without two major starters. Xherdan Shaqiri is set to miss out, too, meaning that there should be space for the likes of Naby Keita and perhaps one of their precocious young talents to get a place on the bench. One thing is for sure, though; Jurgen Klopp sees this, rather than Salzburg, as the priority for this week.
Expect as strong a side as they can put out.
Leicester News
The Foxes could be without star turn James Maddison, with the Englishman suffering a knock. It could be a big loss for them, as he has been among the best players in the league so far. Outside of that, though, Leicester can go full strength and should put out broadly the same side who went to town on Newcastle United last weekend.
With so much depth for a side outside of Europe, Leicester should be refreshed and ready.
Verdict
Liverpool to win an absolute barn-burner. Both teams are scoring but also conceding, so we could see both teams scoring at least one. The games at Anfield between the two teams have often been belters since the Foxes came back up; we expect this one to add to that growing collection of classic matches.
